Week 30: "Thankful" (:

                                                                                       "Happy Missionary" (:

Hey everyone(: This week, the only word I can think of to describe my feelings are thankful. I am so so grateful to be here, so grateful for my Savior, and so happy that I am growing, changing, and becoming who God needs me to be.

So many miracles happened this week, I don't even really know where to begin. We had interviews with President Brown, and that was wonderful. I love knowing that my Mission President loves and cares about each of his missionaries so individually. I know that he and Sister Brown pray for us and are here to help us. Afterwards, we went tracting. We knocked on so many doors, and no one was interested. We had about five minutes left before we had to go to our next appointment, and we both decided that there was someone on that street that the Lord wanted us to find. The next door we knocked on, we met a young man named J____. He told us we could come back and share a message with him. We taught him the Restoration the next day with Sister Seyfi, and the spirit was so incredibly strong. Yesterday, he told us his aunt invited him to attend church with her and he won't be taking the discussions anymore, but he was thankful that we helped "get him on the right track". I know that even though he isn't going to investigate at this time, someday his heart will remember that spirit that was felt and he will want to know more.
                                                                "Creepy donkey in someone's yard...haha" (:

We had an amazing lesson with R_______ and S_______. They are so prepared, and they are truly embracing the gospel with their whole hearts. It is a beautiful thing to witness(: We had dinner with them and the Gee's at their house, and they told us that we are the first people they've had over for dinner since moving here, and they've been here for 20 years! It's so sweet to know that they trust us all and appreciate the spirit that we bring. I know that the Lord is working miracles in their lives and will continue to do so(:

An amazing breakthrough happened with C______ this week. Last Sunday, Sister Jenson and I had a companionship fast for him, because the only hold up he has had is being baptized again (he was baptized into a Baptist church). When we went over this week, he said that he was finally out of Luke (in his Bible rapping) and into John. He said that when he was reading John 3:5, he felt the impression that he needs to be baptized. SO COOL. The spirit is amazing. Brother Andersen and his sister-in-law Savannah came with us, and you could tell that he prepared so much for the lesson because he and C______ had some very meaningful and powerful discussion about baptism, the priesthood, and overcoming addiction. I love the awesome members in our ward. Cedric is an amazing man and we're so excited for him!!(:

"My old companion, Sister Metzger and I on splits last week...yes it snowed!! :/"

Our lesson with R________ was amazing this week. She has such a strong spirit. She's going through a lot right now, but still has such a desire to learn and progress. It's really awesome. After seeing her, we went with Samuel and Emily and saw D____, R______, C______, and M______. We re-taught the Plan of Salvation. It was AMAZING because R_______ was testifying to M_______ of the truthfulness of it. So cool to witness that. The spirit was really strong. R_______ asked Sam to offer the closing prayer, and Sister Jenson suggested we all kneel. It was such a spiritual experience. After that, we met with S_________. What a wonderful man. We love him.

On Friday, Sis. Jenson and I got invited by President and Sister Brown to go to this Leadership Meeting. It was so awesome. Elder Martino from the Seventy spoke, and it was such a great learning experience for me. Something that really stuck out to me is that we shouldn't have to do lists, we should have to be lists. The gospel is all about becoming who God needs us to be(:
"This poor guy installs "sprinkles" haha!" (:

We met with J____ again! He's so sweet. When we taught about the Plan of Happiness, it really seemed to click with him. It's so cool when people understand that there is a purpose to this life, and a huge part of that purpose is to experience true joy. Then we met with a new investigator named L____, who we met while walking. He's so awesome.

Bishop asked us to speak in sacrament meeting yesterday. I was asked to speak on reactivation. I prayed and prayed the night before that I would be able to not be nervous and that the spirit would help me know what to say. I felt impressed to share the story of Aminadab in Helaman. I talked about how it related to my life, and God's love for all of us. It was really amazing to be able to share my testimony with so many of the people that I love here in Longmont. After I got done speaking, I heard this very loud "Well, AYYYYMEN," from the back of the chapel. C______(: We've determined that however loud he says amen determines how much he liked what was said. So I'm glad that he felt the spirit hahaha(:
"Sister Jenson and I with Emily and Sam...they are wonderful!"

I am so happy. So thankful to be a missionary. So thankful for the amazing best friends I have met on my mission, for the joy that comes from sharing the gospel with those friends. I love them with all my heart and I love my Savior with all that I am.

"And when the Spirit of God is upon me, I think it matters but very little what I suffer, what I sacrificed - whether I secure the honor or dishonor of men, or where I die, if it so be that I can keep the faith, fight the good fight, and finish my course with JOY. I have all eternity before me, in which to enjoy myself,". - Parley P. Pratt

Week 29: "Well Bless Your Angel Hearts" (:

Lunch with our best friends(: (you have no idea how long it took us to get all of us in the picture)

Hi everyone! I hope you have all had the most wonderful week. It's been an amazing week full of miracles here in Longmont.

It's been so awesome. There are two people, Emily and Sam, who literally have become me and Sis. Jenson's best friends. They are so great and it's been really fun to get to know them both better and have them in lessons with us. Emily is a return missionary from Canada, and Sam is getting ready to put his mission papers in. You know those people that you feel like you were meant to meet in this life? That's how they have been for me and I just love them(: I know that God wanted us to meet, because they really are such good examples to me and make me want to be a better and happier person. I feel so blessed to have met people in my life who are so supportive and loving, and it's super cool to be meeting some of those people out here on my mission. I know that we're all going to be best friends for a long time.

We had an awesome lesson with our investigator, J___, on Monday. He has never really been too religious, and so it's all kind of new for him, but I know that as he prays about the simple truths of the gospel, he'll receive an answer from Heavenly Father. God loves us all so much, and as long as we are praying with humble and sincere hearts, He will answer us in the way that He knows is best for us.

Tuesday was a day full of miracles. We had a lesson with Ro_____, and she has changed SO much. Her heart has just continued to soften and she is praying and is going to come to church on Sunday. She wants to receive an answer. She hasn't ever felt the spirit before, and I know that as she continues to pray and as she starts reading the Book of Mormon, that spirit will come and she'll know that it's true. She's already expressed a desire to be baptized when she gets that answer(: Emily came out with us later and we met this man who used to be a satanist. He came from a very painful childhood, and then one day a friend of his reached out to him, and he was able to completely change his life around and come unto Christ. He isn't interested in learning about the gospel at this time, but it made me so happy for him that he was able to experience a complete change in his life all because of the love of the Savior. It's amazing what the light of His perfect love can do to people. I know that someday he'll accept the gospel, and it'll be awesome(: We ended the night with a lesson with R______ and S______. They are such amazing people. Honestly. We all agreed that we were meant to meet one another, and that God truly does have a plan and knows who we need in our lives. They have been reading the Book of Mormon, and are loving it so much. They have discussions, and pray, and ask questions. They really have a desire to come closer to Christ and to know the truth and beauty of the gospel. The Spirit that is felt in lessons with them is amazing. I love them(:

On Wednesday morning we had a great lesson with C_____. He's seriously so awesome, and we are hoping and praying that he will have the desire to be baptized. Then we had exchanges and I was with Sister Metzger! We had a great lesson with S____. We talked to her about the temple and it was awesome hearing her happy memories of when she has gone. She is such a sweetheart, and I know that she has a desire to do what is right. She is so genuinely kind to everyone and I just want her to be happy. And the best and most lasting happiness comes from the gospel.
It rained/snowed a lot this night, but we had a great lesson with Rayann so it's all good(:

We visited R______ on Thursday with Samuel and Emily. It was seriously amazing to see how great her apartment looked. The Relief Society sisters in the ward have been so wonderful, and helped her get it all cleaned and organized (after the moving and the flooding, it was too much for one person to handle). I'm so thankful to be serving in a ward where people truly do have the spirit of charity, they are such good examples to me. The lesson went really well and the spirit was really strong, especially when Sam shared a scripture out of Doctrine and Covenants 121. It really was exactly what she needed to hear.

Friday was super great. We had an awesome lesson with Sister W________ at dinner. She is such a strong and faithful person. She's been through so much but still knows and trusts that Heavenly Father has a plan for her. After that we went and helped move some of D___, R_____, and C_____'s things out of their old house. Sam and Emily came and helped us and it was actually super fun.
Sister Jenson and I with our friends Sam and Emily at the Mexican restaurant! (:

On Saturday, we had an amazing lesson with Brother O_______. Sister Baker came with us and bore such a strong testimony on the sacrament. It was amazing hearing Brother O________ talk about what the sacrament means to him. I'm so happy that he's coming back to church, he is an amazing man. After that, Emily and Sam took us out to lunch at this really delicious Mexican restaurant. It was so much fun and we laughed and talked and had a lesson and it was just awesome(: They are the best. Later, we had a lesson with L____ and it went great! She's such a sweet girl, and really does want to be baptized. We love her and are excited for her to make that step to come closer to Heavenly Father. We had a meeting/dinner with our ward mission leader and the Hermanas later that night, and he said something so kind. He said, "You know, I just really appreciate how bold you all are. Because that's how you're supposed to be. And I'm just very thankful for that because it gives me and the rest of the ward confidence in you,". It was so sweet! We went to the adult session of Stake Conference later, and it was awesome. I felt so uplifted and inspired. Our mission president, President Brown, spoke and was talking about miracles. He had all the full-time missionaries stand, and then he said, "These are 22 of our miracles,". That brought on the tears haha.
Me and my favorite human! (:

I love Sundays. Stake Conference was awesome. Amidst all of the spiritual strength, there were some hilarious things that happened as well. Here are two examples: 1. There was a woman giving a talk (about raising children, modesty, etc.) and she literally said "boob crack" in front of the whole stake. It was hilarious. 2. President Brown, in reference to the many young men who were leaning forward and sleeping in the pews, said that it is called the "Toilet Position". And then busted up laughing. It was very unexpected but hilarious. After church, R______ and S______ met President and Sister Brown, and they got along so well. R______ said, "I feel very protective of our Sisters, they are like daughters to me," and President Brown said, "Trust me, I know that feeling,". It was really sweet(: Later, we had a lesson with D___, R_____, and C______ and their friend M_____. It went so great, and C_____ and R_____ will be getting baptized together now(: We are so happy for them! Then we had a great lesson with D______.

As you all probably know, today is 4/20. So things should be pretty interesting here in Colorado haha. This week, I realized something that is so amazing. The Savior has so much faith in us. He trusts us to teach others about the gospel. He has faith that we can get through this life with the gospel on our side. He has so much confidence in us, and wants what is best for us. So we should have so much confidence in ourselves! We have the Savior of the world lifting us and supporting us, and we can do anything through Him.

I love you all so much.

Love, Sister Allen

Week 28: "Just Be Yourself" (:

Me and Sister Jenson ready for church! (:

Hey everyone!(: This week has been one of so many miracles. I'm so happy to be serving here in Longmont!

We had a great lesson with a less-active Sister on Monday. She so sweet and it was so awesome to get to know her better and help her feel God's love for her. Then we had a lesson with Brother C____, and it was awesome. Bro. and Sis. Doherty shared some really awesome testimonies on following spiritual promptings. I know that following those promptings that we receive from the Holy Ghost is so important, and when we do it makes Heavenly Father so happy and helps Him to trust us more. We show we are thankful to Him by listening to that still, small voice.

Tuesday we met with Ca____ and S___, and it was wonderful. They have grown so much spiritually, and are continuing to grow together and that's awesome. We had an amazing lesson with Ri_____ and Sh____ that night, and a super cool miracle happened. They had been praying about their son a lot, and had a really strong hope that he would want to join the church. He has attended a couple times with a friend. They prayed about it after watching conference on Sunday. The next day, their son texted them and told them he wants to become a member of the church!(: They told us all about it and they are so happy and thankful. He is going to start the missionary discussions with the missionaries in his area, and they are hoping to all be baptized together as a family in May(: Amazing, amazing miracles.
Creepy gnomes in someone's yard! haha (:

On Wednesday, we had a lesson with Ce____. The Andersen's came, and they were so awesome. We talked about the Word of Wisdom, and he said that he knows that it's true. He has a sincere desire to stop smoking and I know that as he continues praying and reading the Book of Mormon, Heavenly Father will help him have the strength to quit. Then we had a lesson with S_____, and it was great. I love her so much. Then we had a lesson with little L___. We read out of the Book of Mormon picture book, and it was cool to see how much she really understands about it all. She's an awesome girl.
                                                                                      Us with sweet L___!(:

Thursday we had Zone Meeting, and it was really great. Then, Sister Seyfi came with us and we had a lesson with a man named S_______, who we met a week ago while we were walking. It was such a great lesson, and he really opened up about how he feels like his relationship is with God. He was amazed at the account of Joseph Smith and the whole concept of personal revelation. It's crazy how people just don't realize that God does and will answer prayers. I'm so excited for him to continue growing and learning. After that, we had a lesson with a man named Jesus. We were going to see one of our potentials and he was standing outside of her garage. We shared the message of the Restoration, and he said that we can come back this week and teach him again! We are so excited(: Later we met with D___, R_____, and Cy_____, and had a great lesson about God's love and plan for them.

On Friday, we had a great lesson with Sister Gautney, she is such an awesome lady. She has been experiencing lots of really amazing miracles lately, and we are so happy for her. Yesterday at church she said, "You two are just so good together. I just love you and it's going to be sad when you get split up. There's no way that you weren't sisters before this life, because you just get a long so well!". It was so sweet(:
Got some serious tan lines going on! haha! (:

Saturday was awesome. We had a lesson with Ra____ about forgiveness, and how the Atonement can heal every hurt. It's amazing that our Savior was so willing to feel all that we feel on a daily basis. He truly loves us so much and is always there for us no matter what. Also, 7/11 was having a Slurpee sale thing, so we got Slurpee's. Dad, it seriously brought back so many good memories of when you used to take me to get Slurpee's in California. I miss you! Then, we had an amazing lesson with Brother O_______. He is such an amazing person, and I'm so glad that we met him. He came to church yesterday! Which was so exciting. Later that night, I was able to sneakily make a cake for Sister Jenson's birthday while she was in the shower.
                                                                                               Slurpees!! (:

Yesterday, church was awesome, and I was able to surprise Sister Jenson lots for her birthday with the help of a lot of great members of the ward!(:
                                                                Sister Jenson's birthday!!
Happy Birthday Sister Jenson!! (featuring awkward hand) haha (:

This week, I've really just been thinking about how important it is to be yourself. Heavenly Father made all of us special, unique, and individual for a reason. We are able to use our specific gifts, talents, and life experiences, to bless the lives of others. I know that God loves each of us, and is so happy when we are thankful for who we are. So remember how special you are this week, give thanks, and use those amazing talents God has given you! You never know the good you can do.

I love you all!

Love, Sister Allen

Week 27: "My Redeemer Lives" (:

                                                                                      Our Easter outfits! (:

Hey everyone!(: I hope you all had a Happy Easter and an inspiring time watching Conference. Good news, I found my planner from Fort Collins, so now I can email all my favorite people! So sorry that I'm lame and haven't been good about that, just know that I love you all!

Monday was awesome, we had a great lesson with Brother Cl_____. We were talking a lot about prayer, and relying on the Lord and telling Him about everything, even if it seems silly. Brother Doherty made a really good point about how when little kids come up to us and tell us silly stories, we love it and it makes us happy. And that's exactly how our Heavenly Father feels about all of us!

We had an amazing lesson with R_______ and S_______ at the Gee's house on Tuesday. We talked about the Plan of Happiness, and it was so amazing seeing the joy and understanding that they had. R_______ said, "I never knew that the Fall was something that God had planned, but the Book Of Mormon makes that clear,". At the end of the lesson, he said, "You know, even on the hard days, when I'm here with my Sister's and with the Gee's just talking about Christ, I feel revived,". So much happiness, I love them so much.
                                                                     A free toilet in someone's yard...haha! (:

On Wednesday, we met with R_______. They lesson was amazing, and she said that when the Holy Ghost tells her heart that it's true, she'll be baptized. I'm so excited for her! She's an amazing and strong woman, and I can tell that the Spirit has softened her heart so much. We had a great lesson with S_____, and she said that she and D_____ would be coming to conference on Sunday morning. We had a lesson with C_____, and her husband S____, and that was so awesome. They are both working together to grow closer to the Lord, which is how marriage is supposed to be. It's so cool to see how happy they both are. We had a lesson with R_______ and S______ in their home, and it was amazing. I love that the scriptures testify so plainly of the Savior's love for us. It is such a huge blessing.

Thursday we had a lesson with D____, R_____, and C______ on the Word of Wisdom. It went really well! It's amazing to see the changes that they are making in their lives. I came home to boxes from Grandma and Papa, Uncle Verl, and my family(: I love you guys. Thank you all for making my Easter so special.

We met with Ce_____ on Friday. I seriously love him. He is so cool and in tune with the Spirit. We talked about baptism quite a bit, and Sister Seyfi bore her testimony of why it's so important and how she knew she needed to be baptized. He really seemed to relate to her, and it was so awesome to see the change of heart that he had when she bore her testimony. Later, we had a lesson with L___. She's so cute. I just love that girl, and it's so cool to see how much she understands about God's love for her.

Saturday was so great. Conference was seriously so amazing. I especially loved Elder Packard and Sister Burton's talks. I especially loved the phrase that was used, "Thee lift me, and I lift thee, and we'll ascend together,". So wonderful. I know that we all need to love each other and support each other in this life. As we love others the way the Savior does, our own lives become happier and more meaningful. We watched the second session at the Doherty/Andersen's home. I love them so much. I honestly feel so blessed to have met that family, and I'm so thankful that I don't have to say goodbye to them yet!
Here we are...emailing home!!  Me laughing at these silly Elders!  (:

So many prayers were answered on Sunday. It was truly a miracle. R_______ and S_______ weren't able to come watch conference with us because their son was in town, but we got a text from them telling us that they were watching it on their own, and that God spoke to their hearts as they listened. They are so excited to become members of the church! S_____ and D______ came to the morning session, and I know that they both felt the Spirit so strongly. S______ and I both loved Elder Nielson's talk on the Prodigal Son. I also loved Elder Holland's talk. Both of those spoke so powerfully to me, and I received so much spiritual guidance from their inspired words. Later, the Seyfi's set up a cute little Easter egg hunt for us, which was so sweet. It made the day that much more special. We had dinner with the Gee's, and that was super fun. Then we had a great Easter lesson with the E________'s. They are such a cute family. It was adorable, before we left, H________ (their 10 year old son) was like, "Can I give you a hug?". I told him that we can do hand hugs for now, but after I'm done being a missionary I'll give him a real one haha. It was so sweet.
These two Elders, Elder Croft and Elder Carstens, finished up their missions, they are awesome people, we were sad to see them go!  Sister Jenson and I are doing "sloth" hands in honor of our District's mascot! haha

I am so thankful for all the wonderful people I've met here. I'm so thankful for Easter, and the time that we have to reflect on the fact that we do indeed have a living, loving, and amazing Savior. I love Him, and I love all of you! Have a great week!

Love, Sister Allen
